This was a fun and in-depth emotionally honest radio interview. Hanka Wojciak, of ‘Wieczor Panienski’, Radio Krakow, skilfully exposes the inner recesses of Jarmila musical soul and takes you on a journey through her creative career. From the beginnings with Sovay, through her multimedia Trance-Magic Piano Sessions and the first, mysteriously wordless album ‘Hashgachah’, to the latest release ‘Aspaklaria’ whose songs are garnished with lyrics for the first time in years. What is behind this radical transformation?…
Jest to zabawna ale też głęboka, emocjonalnie szczera rozmowa z redaktorką Hanką Wójciak, w programie ‘Wieczór Panieński’ w Radiu Kraków. Z niezmierną elegancją i poczuciem humoru, Hanka potrafi dotrzeć prawie do najgłębszych sekretów muzycznej duszy Jarmili.

(Basia Monka, Jerusalem Post)
‘Try to get good big speakers to listen to this album… there’s a lot in the production of it… wonderfully fruity synthesizers, great textures, layers and layers of it, a big overall thing…’

What is certainly typical of Jarmila’s music is that it is positively atypical. Like other critics before him, in his review of Jarmila’s album Aspaklaria, Haydon Benfield proposes several different genres in his attempt to classify her style. Art-pop, electronica, experimental, adult-contemporary, jazz, IDM all end up thrown into this cocktail shaker, but ultimately he confesses…
Read More‘Jarmila Xymena Gorna is like a musical polymath. She’s a bit like the Ibn Ezra, and although he is a medieval Torah commentator and she’s a modern musician - so there’s quite a gap between them, but in a way it’s very much the same kind of ability to do many, many, many things well, all at the same time without seemingly specialising in one, being super confident in all of them...’

Read MoreIn 2006 I was invited to take part in the exhibition titled 'Childhood Memories' at the V&A Museum of Childhood in London. I chose to recall how, as a child, I constructed my first 'recording studio', where I was able to execute basic tracking and layering of different parts. I used my sister's old Grundig reel to reel and my own new little Grundig tape recorder to do that. Actually, the museum couldn't find a Grundig, so a prop was used!
Read More‘Gorna’s choice of title for her debut album was a very conscious thought. The creative process is universally fascinating and resolutely difficult to nail down. The title she chose Hashgachah translates from Hebrew as meaning divine synchronicity; those “magic moments from above”. It is easy to hear how the sublime wordless communication of Silver Bird was born from this spiritual inspiration’.
